    I have written a couple times recently about internet marketing, partly because I am very eager to learn about it so I can grow this website up to a high level. In my earlier posts, I gave a few tips on how to improve your website. One of them talked about how key it is to have a lot of engaging content to bring visitors to your site and keep them there. In another post, I wrote about how important linking is for your site to be ranked high in search engine results.

    In today’s update, I’m going to talk about how important social media is to your online marketing efforts.

    I was talking to a friend of mine who works in Las Vegas social media marketing and he provided a lot of useful information on why this is so crucial to your overall internet presence. If you don’t have a Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, etc. for your site, you are falling behind the competition. Get on that right away before you miss out on more traffic.

    Not everybody is just searching Google to find information relevant to your site. However, there is so much activity on social media these days that it can be a great source of visitors to your site. By having a presence on these platforms, you are increasing your reach.

    Have you ever noticed how you get items in your News Feed on Facebook that aren’t directly related to your activity? Perhaps you’ll see something like “Person X just liked this page” or “Person Y reacted to this post”. Even if someone doesn’t directly follow/like your page, they are still being reached secondarily through the activities of their connections.

    Another big reason to have social media properties for your site is to share updates of new content that you publish. If you write a new post on your site and don’t do anything else with it, no announcement or signals sent whatsoever,  the only way someone will know about it is by visiting your domain. If you share it on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, etc., it will be seen. Write an engaging description when you post it to make people want to click on it and read it, and you will deliver more referral traffic to your site.

    Lastly, social media can help with SEO by the links that it provides. When you share an update on Facebook and link to a new article that you wrote, that’s a link to your site that is recognized by search engines. As talked about in my earlier posts on this topic, that’s a big part of getting your site ranked higher in search engine results.

    I hope that now you have understood the importance of social media in terms of how it can help your site grow. If these are things you are already doing – great! If not, it’s time to examine your strategy and start implementing these techniques. Your site will be strengthened for your efforts and it’s worthy of the time invested.
