• How to Grow Online with SEO

I like to pick the brains of my friends now and again to see how we can help each other out and improve our businesses. For me, one of my goals is to get this blog far-reaching with lots of daily traffic. I asked a friend of mine, who works in online marketing, on how I can go about growing my website and getting more visitors.

    How to Win with SEO

My friend is someone who I have come to know as someone who can Dominate With SEO like nobody I’ve ever seen. He’s taking so many sites and made them go gangbusters. It’s ridiculous. I had him do an analysis of my site and asked what I can do to improve and bring in more traffic, and he was happy to help get me pointed in the right direction.

    Content

The first thing he told me is that content is king. You can’t just throw up a few pages and hope that it goes viral. It doesn’t work like that. Google, and other search engines, like what are called “authority sites”. You want to build your site up with lots of pages and make it comprehensive. Be an expert on your topic, in simplest terms. Your writing should be engaging as well, making the reader want to stay on the page and read your other stuff.

Having a lot of content also helps you rank for more keywords. When you cover a wide range of topics or angles in your niche, that’s more opportunities for Google to crawl your site and index it for certain search terms.

On top of having lots of content, the navigation should be laid out well. It should be easy for the user to find their way around and get from one topic or page to the next. This can be done with a good navigation bar or menu at the top, but also, more importantly, interlinking your pages and posts like how I link to a previous post here.

    Links

In addition to having a lot of content on your page, you also need links pointing to the different pages on your site. Part of that is accomplished with interlinking as I described above, however, another key factor is linking from external sources.

When another website creates a link to your site, it sends a signal to the search engines that your site is relevant and worth visiting. The higher powered the referring site is, the more powerful the link is and gives you a bigger boost in Google search engine results. The text used in the link, called the anchor text, is also very important.

There is a lot more that could be said on this topic, but those are a couple of basic ideas that I’m going to work on for this site. I’m going to be cranking out a lot of new posts in the coming days, weeks, and months, as well as reaching out to other sites relevant to my niche to see if I can guest post over there and provide a link back to my site here.

Hopefully, with continued use of good SEO practices, this site will get to the level I want it to be.
